I recently did a technical visit of Château de Carqueiranne, near Hyères in the South of France, to prepare for an upcoming wedding. I’m one of the suppliers the château recommends to its couples, and I can see why so many couples choose it: here, every space is designed for a specific moment of the day. Here’s a little guided tour, in the order of a wedding day.

Getting ready, fit for a princess
The day begins inside the château, in beautiful rooms for getting ready. Soft light, generous volumes, period details: the kind of setting every bride dreams of, and a joy to photograph. (Gentlemen, I haven’t forgotten you: the rooms set aside for your preparations are just as beautiful for making your moment shine!)

A celebrant ceremony facing the chapel
On the side of the château, facing the chapel, a space is dedicated to the celebrant ceremony. The setting is already there; there’s almost nothing to add.

Cocktail hour in the shade
Behind the château, a shaded area hosts the cocktail hour. Guests stay cool even in the height of summer in the Var, and it’s the perfect time for group photos and candid moments.

The driveway, straight out of a magazine
The drive leading up to the château looks like a postcard, or a fashion magazine spread. It’s the dream spot for the couple’s portraits: elegant, timeless images.

Sunset among the vines
At the end of the day, the sun sets between the vines. It’s the golden hour I wait for at every wedding, for a few quiet minutes alone with the couple.

Dinner under the stars, then the party
Dinner is served in front of the château, under the stars. Then the party moves inside, where the dance floor awaits guests until the early hours.
